02 Jun TIPS TO MAINTAIN YOUR STEEL BUILDING
It’s no secret that maintenance is a vital role in the longevity of any building. And while prefab metal buildings have less upkeep than any other type of material, that doesn’t mean maintenance should be forgone completely. A thorough inspection should be done annually, if not bi-annually, to see if anything needs to be cleaned, repaired, or replaced. At times, basic inspections should be done more frequently depending on a building’s location i.e. near the coast, in a highly polluted, extremely humid, or arid area. These inspections should also be done after any natural disasters or heavy snowfall, just to make sure nothing has been damaged or compromised.
In order to keep the exterior in tip-top shape, it is imperative to clear dirt, dust, chalk, or any other buildup residue. Simply wash the walls and roof panels with water or soft scrub with a mild cleaning agent for more stubborn contaminants and debris. Be sure to clear the roof, gutters, and downspouts to prevent clogs and standing water. As for the interior, it is essential to examine the insulation coverage, power vents, curbing, and other building accessories for damage, worn down components, or mildew. The building inspection might be time-consuming, but the more thorough you are with your attention to detail, the better chance you have to elongate the livelihood of your steel building in the long run.
